OUR PUBLIC SERVICE MISSION

Our unique Public Service Division fights to make sure everyone gets a fair shake. Our Public Service
team is dedicated to working on complex litigation related to excellence in education, access to mass
transportation and advocacy on behalf of the disabled.

We are passionate about public service. We represent the most vulnerable members of our community including children, seniors, veterans and the disabled. Our public service division develops, executes and funds programs that not only raise awareness, but help to correct some of the largest issues our community faces. Making a difference is not just a slogan. For our firm, it's a way of life.

FIRM SUES PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES OVER EXORBITANT INSULIN COSTS

The Sam Bernstein Law Firm is representing several major Michigan municipalities in lawsuits against the world’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturers and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) for their illegal pricing activities.

Cars For Veterans

To honor the 10th anniversary of their Detroit Veteran Housing Facility, Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI) will be giving away 11 cars to 11 Michigan Veterans on Veterans Day, November 11, 2021.

Call Sam Scholarship

Knowing both the value and the high cost of a college or technical school education, our firm is providing ten scholarships of $5,000 each to high school seniors or students currently attending any accredited Michigan college, university or vocational/technical school.

Firm Sues DPS Over Fatality of Special Needs Student

The Sam Bernstein Law Firm sues Trinity, Inc., DBA Trinity Transportation (Trinity) and the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) over an incident on a transport bus where a special needs passenger suffered a seizure and became incapacitated.

JUDGE AWARDS $100M IN DOG ATTACK CASE

Our skilled legal team won this landmark symbolic award for our client, Steve Constantine, who was viciously attacked and maimed by his neighbors’ 12 dogs while the owner fled the scene.

The Sam Bernstein Law Firm sued the American Bar Association for requiring law schools to use the LSAT exam, which necessitates "spatial reasoning and the ability to diagram."

TRIATHALON ORG. IS DANGEROUS FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED ATHLETES

The lawsuit alleged these organizations created dangerous conditions for athletes with visual impairments, violating their rights under the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Sam Bernstein Law Firm sued Northwest Airlines (now Delta) and the Wayne County Airport Authority for violating the rights of passengers with disabilities.

FIRM SUES ROAD COMMISSION FOR LACK OF PEDESTRIAN SAFETY

As a result of this lawsuit, the firm won a landmark settlement that required the Road Commission of Oakland County (RCOC) to install safety equipment for pedestrians in each roundabout.

UofM FOOTBALL STADIUMS FAILURE TO ACCOMMODATE FANS

The lawsuit claimed the university did not provide enough handicap-accessible seating or sufficient accommodations in restrooms, concession stands and parking areas.

FIRM SUES DETROIT FOR LACK OF BUS WHEELCHAIR LIFTS

The lawsuit accused the City of Detroit of violating ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements for wheelchair lifts on public buses.

Firm Sues Law Examiners Board for Lack of Disability Accommodations

The firm sued the Michigan Board of Law Examiners on behalf of Jason Turkish, a blind law student who was denied accommodations that would enable him to take the Michigan Bar Exam. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
